The fascination with "BOY The Dog" began with collaboration between longtime friends and business partners, Keith Jones and C.C. Alexander. Jones, an NBA executive and Alexander, a character creator, wanted a symbol that would help support humane societies around the world. The idea was born in the Summer of 2007 while Jones was in training camp with Team USA in preparation for the 2008 Summer Olympics. Their search for a symbol that would have immediate impact was realized when C.C. happened upon a litter of Chihuahua/Jack Russell puppies. He was immediately drawn to a wide-eyed puppy who happened to be the "personality" of the litter. Once in tow, the puppy would only respond to "BOY" and so he was named.
Wherever "BOY" travels, the reaction is overwhelming with crowds gathering to take photos and pet him. “BOY”, who loves being the center of attention, is always happy to oblige. It makes you wonder if he is aware of the great benefit his likeness will have for millions of people and animals in need of love and care around the world. He certainly thanks you for taking him home.
